The Homnick web site is now completely built on the SharePoint 2007 Publishing Template. It is an example of the power and ease of delivering Internet facing sites with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS).
The original site deployed uses the Blue Vertical Master Page theme for the look and feel. This theme can be changed by simply selecting a diferent Master Page. I foresee in the near future that there will be graphics artists that can deliver custom SharePoint formatted Master Pages that follow the design requirements of MOSS. This way a fresh professional site look and feel can be easily implemented by simply copying the Master Pages and art into the SharePoint site structure and pointing to it. The whole problematic hand off between the Graphics Artist and Developer can be avoided.
This type of site incorporates Content Management and the pages are being maintained by the operational staff at Homnick Systems. Any edits to the pages can be made remotely by logging in and modifying the pages directly in the browser. Full check-out, check-in, versioning and approval capabilities are built-in. The registration, schedule and contact pages are simply SharePoint lists that are rendered to the Anonymous visitor through DataView and FormView controls. The lists are maintained by operations staff just like any other SharePoint list.
